I had a drawing session with a friend of mine the other day, the study object was gorillas. We image-Googled like crazy to get as many references as possible. We tried to exaggerate the features that are typical for these lovely creatures.
They have such strange physique, gorillas, their posture is really weird and their facial bone strucure (or is that fat?) is impossible to understand with a quick look.
Some of my drawings:
My friend and I agreed that we should do this more often, drawing with themes. You learn a LOT about how things look. I hope we will get around to it soon.

"D"
My classmate, Erik, asked me the other day to draw a couple of hands holding a "D", as a header for his photoblog (which is nowhere near daily, but the photos are lovely)
We took a couple of pictures with us holding a paper cutout and I started to draw with them as reference. I think it turned out a bit Escher-esque ("drawing hands") even though there is no loop or illusion. Take a look here for more Escher.
Visit daily to see the final result (and, of course, the great photos..)
And, if you want to see these pics larger, do that here and here.
